EXPECT DELAYS is a 20 x 20 inch mixed media original on canvas built from the friction of moving through the city when nothing flows the way it should. Torn subway imagery, street textures, and layered fragments collide into a dense, unstable surface. At the center, a fractured figure with offset vision anchors the chaos, caught between observation and overload. The work pulls from the rhythm of underground transit and the constant interruptions that define urban life, where motion and delay exist at the same time.

Originally created for a Subway Creatures show, the piece leans into that raw, unfiltered energy. Cardboard, paint, collage, and drips are left exposed, not cleaned up, pushing the idea of a system that is always breaking down and rebuilding itself. EXPECT DELAYS is less about a literal commute and more about the mental state of navigating noise, pressure, and unpredictability. It holds that tension right on the surface, where nothing is fully resolved but everything feels alive.
