With more than 30 years of experience as a commercial illustrator, designer, and creative director, Joe Bloch has spent the last decade developing a distinctive mixed-media practice inspired by the layered history of New York City.

Working with acrylic, collage, industrial textures, and found materials, he creates original paintings where surfaces are built up, stripped down, and rebuilt again. Every piece is handmade and intentionally unpolished on purpose.

Created from his Brooklyn studio, Bloch's work blends urban textures, abstraction, and figurative imagery into paintings that celebrate process over perfection. No two originals are ever alike.

GOLD PLATED Original Painting by Joe Bloch 30x30"
Sale Price: $2,600.00 Original Price: $3,600.00

GOLD PLATED

Gold Plated explores the tension between appearance and reality. Layers of rough texture, torn materials, and aggressive mark-making are contrasted with flashes of metallic gold, creating a figure that feels both regal and weathered. The work suggests a portrait built from experience rather than perfection, where scars, imperfections, and history remain visible beneath the surface.

Drawing inspiration from urban walls, industrial materials, and contemporary street culture, Joe Bloch combines cardboard, paint, and raw gestural lines into a composition that feels simultaneously ancient and modern. Gold Plated questions what we choose to value, reminding us that true character is often found beneath the surface finish rather than in the shine itself.

PINK NOISE Original Painting by Joe Bloch 30x30"
Sale Price: $2,600.00 Original Price: $3,600.00

PINK NOISE
Mixed Media Acrylic on Canvas

Pink Noise exists somewhere between signal and static, order and disruption. Layers of paint, collage, and aggressive mark making collide across the surface while a solitary face emerges from the chaos, partially obscured yet unmistakably present. The composition carries the visual energy of a city wall layered with years of posters, graffiti, repairs, and forgotten messages.

The title references the constant background hum that surrounds modern life. The thoughts, distractions, conversations, notifications, and emotional noise that never fully disappear. Amid the turbulence, the figure remains steady, acting as an anchor within the visual storm. Thick textures, drips, and fractured surfaces create a sense of accumulated experience, suggesting that identity is not formed in spite of chaos but through it. The work embraces imperfection, contradiction, and resilience as essential parts of the human experience.

PUNCH PUNCH Original Painting by Joe Bloch 30x30"
$3,600.00

PUNCH PUNCH
Acrylic and mixed media on canvas
30×30”

PUNCH PUNCH captures the tension between vulnerability and resilience through a figure that feels both mechanical and human. Built from layered fragments of typography, weathered textures, and bold graphic marks, the composition suggests a character bracing for impact while refusing to back down. The oversized fists push forward into the viewer's space, transforming a simple gesture into a symbol of persistence, determination, and self defense.

The surface reflects the visual noise of contemporary urban life. Torn layers, distressed marks, and traces of signage emerge and disappear beneath expressive black lines. Despite the chaos, the figure remains intact and centered, holding its ground. PUNCH PUNCH is a portrait of endurance, a reminder that strength is not found in perfection, but in the ability to absorb life's blows and keep moving forward.

3D STAN 30x30" Original Painting by Joe Bloch
$3,600.00

3D STAN
30 × 30" Original Mixed Media on Canvas

A familiar face emerges from layers of paint, cardboard, warning tape, and weathered fragments, as though it has been uncovered from the walls of a forgotten city. The figure feels both mechanical and human, with mismatched lenses hinting at multiple ways of seeing the world while thick impasto and dripping paint obscure as much as they reveal.

Built from torn materials, industrial textures, and expressive brushwork, 3D STAN explores the tension between identity and reconstruction. Every scrape, drip, and collage element remains visible, embracing imperfection as part of the story. The result is a portrait that feels unearthed rather than painted, carrying the history of its own making.
