With more than 30 years of experience as a commercial illustrator, designer, and creative director, Joe Bloch has spent the last decade developing a distinctive mixed-media practice inspired by the layered history of New York City.
Working with acrylic, collage, industrial textures, and found materials, he creates original paintings where surfaces are built up, stripped down, and rebuilt again. Every piece is handmade and intentionally unpolished on purpose.

Pink Noise exists somewhere between signal and static, order and disruption. Layers of paint, collage, and aggressive mark making collide across the surface while a solitary face emerges from the chaos, partially obscured yet unmistakably present. The composition carries the visual energy of a city wall layered with years of posters, graffiti, repairs, and forgotten messages.
The title references the constant background hum that surrounds modern life. The thoughts, distractions, conversations, notifications, and emotional noise that never fully disappear. Amid the turbulence, the figure remains steady, acting as an anchor within the visual storm.
